About Us
Like a tree needs to be rooted on a firm foundation in order to stand, a person needs to be grounded by personal connections in order to be secure. Like a tree needs to be cultivated in order to bloom, a person needs to be nurtured in order to thrive.
Well Rooted believes that a lack of personal connections is a significant contributing factor to foster families quitting within their first year, biological families re-entering the system and the staggering statistics of homelessness, unemployment, incarceration, drug use and pregnancy in the population of young adults aging out of the foster system.
A person’s original “roots” or past relationships can be complicated; they can become weak or even severed. We want to redefine how and where a person can find personal connections in order to become WELL ROOTED.
Sarah Todd
Director of Operations
Co-President
With a background in Insurance, Sarah did not see running a non-profit in her future. After becoming a licensed Foster Parent, she was able to fully experience the amount of support that is needed and how little there actually is. After working with another local non-profit to help support foster families, she was able to see first hand how little support there is for young adults aging out of the foster system which really spawned the desire to fill this gap.
Katie Casey
Director of Communications
Co-President
After 5+ years as a foster parent, Katie has experienced first hand the benefits of having a strong support system. She has a heart for people and believes that all those impacted by the foster system desperately need more community. She and her husband have 5 children and she has a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
Gary Todd
Treasurer
As a foster parent, Gary has experienced first hand everything that comes along with this commitment. With a mind for numbers, he felt that this would be his way of paying it forward.
